The hugely popular trek takes you to the highest peak in West Bengal, Sandakphu. A lot of travel enthusiasts attempts this trek to witness the grandeur of the Lhotse and Makalu Peaks, the fourth and fifth highest peaks in the world respectively. The picturesque beauty of these mountains is overpowered by the sturdy presence of the Everest in between.

The Sandakphu Phalut Trek also delivers captivating views of the ‘Sleeping Buddha’. The setting of the Kanchenjunga Peak, the second highest peak of the world along with its family, portrays the picture of a Sleeping Buddha. The majestic Kanchenjunga forms the upper part of the body, while other peaks like Kokthang, Frey, Kabru, Rathong, Japanu, Tenzingkhan, Mt. Pandim and, Narsing completes the whole structure of the Sleeping Buddha. The sights are incomparable and highly appreciable.

The adventurous trail of 7 days also takes you on the other part of the Indian Border, to Nepal. The whole trek likes along the Nepal-India Border and often takes you on the other side. Brief Trek Itinerary

Day 1: NJP Station to Jaubhari (1,951 meters / 6,400 feet)

Day 2: Jaubhari (1,951 meters / 6,400 feet) to Tumling (2,880 meters / 9,450 feet)

Day 3: Tumling (2,880 meters / 9,450 feet) to Kalipokhri (3,170 meters / 10,400 feet)

Day 4: Kalipokhri (3,170 meters / 10,400 feet) to Sandakphu (3,642 meters to 11,950 feet)

Day 5: Sandakphu (3,642 meters to 11,950 feet) to Sabargram (3,599 meters / 11,807 feet)

Day 6: Sabargram (3,599 meters / 11,807 feet) to Gorkhey (2,300 meters / 7,546 feet) via Phalut (3,642 meters / 11,950 feet)

Day 7: Gorkhey to Sepi and finally to NJP(Departure)

How to Reach Sandakphu Phalut

By Rail:
New Jalpaiguri is the nearest railway station. From New Jalpaiguri you can take a taxi and reach Kopidana in 5 hours. Your trek starts from Kopidana and takes 3 days to reach Sandakphu.

By Road:
There are 2 ways to reach Sandakphu by road. You can either take a cab from NJP to reach Sandakphu directly, it takes 4 hours 40 minutes.

Or, if you want to experience the thrill of trekking, take a taxi from New Jalpaiguri and reach Manebhanjan in 5 hours. Your trek starts from Manebhanjan and takes 3-4 days to reach Sandakphu.

By Air:
Bagdogra (Siliguri) is the nearest airport. From here, you take a cab and reach NJP in ½ an hour. Take a cab from NJP to Manebhanjan. It takes around 5 hours. Your trek starts from Manebhanjan and takes 3-4 days to reach Sandakphu.
