Getting There:
Leh, the capital of Ladakh, serves as the starting point for the Kang Yatse I expedition. Leh is well-connected by air from major Indian cities. Jeeps and taxis can be hired from Leh to reach the base camp, typically located near Chusuk village.
Best Time to Visit:
The optimal window for the Kang Yatse I expedition is July to September. These months offer clear skies, stable weather conditions, and manageable snow cover on the mountain.
Difficulty Level:
Kang Yatse I is a demanding expedition suited only for experienced mountaineers. It requires exceptional physical fitness, stamina, and technical climbing skills like ice and snow climbing. Prior experience climbing peaks above 5,000 meters (preferably 6,000 meters) is essential.
Included/Excluded
- Stay is included in Leh hotel/lodge on sharing basis.
- You will be staying in tents during expedition on sharing basis.
- Transportation Leh to Sara and Chokdo to Leh.
- Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, soup, tea, hot drinks during expedition.
- Permission / peak booking from IMF
- Trekking permits to National Park.
- Garbage cleaning charges.
- High risk insurance for the members
- First aid, medical kit, oxygen cylinders etc. will be available at all campsites to deal with emergencies.
- Ice axe, snow boots, harness, carabiners, descenders, gaiters, tape sling (all necessary safety & climbing gears)
- Tents, sleeping bag, kitchen tent/dining tent.
- Experienced guide.
- Cook, helper, mules.
- Mules or porter for carry personal luggage.
- Meals during road journeys and in Leh hotel.
- Any kind of personal expenses.
- Any early return travel costs or accommodation except for the days as per the itinerary.
